2012-02-04 • Server migration

We currently plan an extensive migration of our server infrastructure. In effect, the domains "lenge.de" and "photoss.de" might be not fully functional (or even completely inaccessible) for some time. Of course we aim to have it up and running again as soon as possible, but we cannot guarantee a certain date. We will not start the process before Saturday (2012-02-11). If you plan any downloads or want contact us by email, you might want to do so until Friday (2012-02-10).

2012-01-16 • PHOTOSS 5.11 released

Besides numerous improvements and the usual bunch of bugfixes, the new version includes: New: Support for Microsoft® Windows® 7 Service Pack 1, MATLAB® 7.11 (R2010b), and MATLAB® 7.12 (R2011a) New: Automatic GPU selection for accelerated fiber simulation (if more than one is available) when PHOTOSS is run from the command line New: Separate user defined Aeff parameter per Raman pump New: Ability to import a power distribution along a fiber (instead of an attenuation coefficient) New: Option to save a signal when right-clicking a link New: Option to open an oscilloscope (amplitude, power, phase, chirp) or a spectrum analyzer (frequency or wavelength, linear or logarithmic) when right-clicking a link New: In combined simulations, the pattern modifier component may now update the parametric signal with more precise values from the sampled signal (useful for single-channel transmission) Customers with a valid update subscription will automatically receive the new version within a few days. 2011-04-04 • PHOTOSS 5.10.3 released

This is a maintenance release that is available for free to all customers with a valid update subscription. The major changes are: New: User defined ß0 parameter in low birefringence fiber calculations with two polarization planes Improved: Several new options and enhancements to GPU accelerated fiber simulation The usual bunch of bugfixes and improvements (far too many to describe in detail) Customers with a valid update subscription will automatically receive the new version within a few days. 2010-11-19 • PHOTOSS 5.10 released

Besides numerous improvements and the usual bunch of bugfixes, the new version includes: New: GPU accelerated fiber simulation now supports the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 400 series New: Phase synchronizer component New: Frequency and location dependent attenuation profiles also in Total field fiber calculations New: Automatic parameter range and consistency checks Improved: GPU accelerated fiber simulation (single precision) up to 200 times faster than CPU Improved: Enhanced algorithm for Raman amplification Improved: Enhanced Poincaré sphere visualization Improved: Optimized step size allocation for fiber calculations Customers with a valid update subscription will automatically receive the new version within a few days. 2010-06-21 • PHOTOSS 5.0 released

Besides numerous improvements and the usual bunch of bugfixes, the new major version includes: New: Extensive scripting capabilities with the new built-in PScript language New: GPU accelerated fiber simulation (requires a supported NVIDIA® graphics adapter) New: Poincaré visualizer in the polarimeter component Enhanced algorithm for Raman amplification Support for the 64-bit edition of Microsoft® Windows® 7 Support for MATLAB® 7.10 (R2010a) Customers with a valid update subscription will automatically receive the new version within a few days. All other customers are invited to contact us for an according upgrade.

2010-01-07 • PHOTOSS 4.60 released

Along with the usual bunch of improvements and bugfixes, the new release adds support for Microsoft® Windows® 7 32-bit, MATLAB® 7.8 (R2009a) and 7.9 (R2009b), and Condor® based grid computing.

2009-08-02 • PHOTOSS 4.51.1 released

Version 4.51.1 is primarily a maintenance and bugfix release. All customers who currently use PHOTOSS 4.51 receive it free of charge.

2009-04-06 • PHOTOSS 4.51 released

Along with the usual bunch of improvements and bugfixes, the new release adds support for MATLAB® 7.7 (R2008b) and the 64-bit editions of Microsoft® Windows® Vista and XP.

The new major release introduces significant enhancements. 2005-11-11 • Marconi is back

After a one and a half year break, Marconi Communications have now entered a new long-term agreement to obtain new PHOTOSS updates and partner with us in the further develeopment of PHOTOSS.

2004-10-05 • Photoss.de integration complete

The formerly independent Photoss.de website is now fully integrated into Lenge.de. All information has been transferred and aligned with the existing contents, so there is only one place to turn to. The web address http://www.photoss.de now targets the same pages as http://www.lenge.de.

2004-09-09 • Integration of Photoss.de and Lenge.de

The integration of the websites http://www.photoss.de and http://www.lenge.de has started. Photoss.de has already moved to the new webspace, yet will remain independent from Lenge.de for a while. We will gradually align the two domains and finally integrate them into one. We apologize for any inconvenience during the transition.

The first PHOTOSS release flying P. I. flags is out. While we are still busy building a new distribution platform, the actual development has never been interrupted. In fact, PHOTOSS 3.15 was already close to complete when we took over.

2003-06-01 • New home of PHOTOSS

Effective today, P. I. Systemtechnik Jens Lenge takes over all commercial activities concerning the PHOTOSS photonic system simulation software. While we have received vast amounts of printed material from the former distributor, ZKOM, it might take a lot of time to get through it. We apologize if our files remain incomplete for a while. We will do our best to be able to serve ZKOM customers as soon as possible.
